Global Community Alliance began with a simple idea: when people feel welcome, heard and supported, they have a better chance to thrive.
That idea matters to us because community is part of who we are. Across our team, we bring experience in community services, finance, communications, volunteering, project coordination and community engagement. We have worked alongside people from many backgrounds and seen how much a little understanding, practical support and genuine connection can mean.
Like many people in our communities, some of us have built a life in Australia after making a big move. We know that finding your feet in a new place can take time. It can mean learning new systems, making new connections and working out where to turn for help. Our experiences have taught us to be resourceful, patient and resilient—and to look out for one another.
That’s why we want to give back to the country we now call home. Australia has given many of us opportunities to work, learn, raise families and contribute. We want to share what we’ve learned along the way and help make services more welcoming, accessible and useful for the people who need them.
The people behind GCA each bring something different. Jacqueline’s leadership and community development experience help bring the team’s ideas together. Alejandra supports the organisation’s finances and corporate responsibilities. Yelitza helps people hear about GCA’s work and connect with it. Maria Carolina brings her experience to the development of community services. Yane helps create meaningful ways for people to volunteer, while Carolina builds relationships and strengthens community connections.
We’re a team, but we’re also community members. We listen, learn and work alongside people—not just for them. We want to support seniors, women, families, young people, job seekers and volunteers, while making space for people to share their skills, culture and ideas.
We know there’s always more to learn. We’ll keep listening to our communities, building partnerships and improving the way we work. Our hope is that people who connect with GCA feel welcomed, respected and encouraged—and know there are people ready to help.
Because when we share our experiences and stand beside one another, we can make our communities stronger. That’s what motivates us, and that’s the kind of contribution we want to make to Australia: a place where everyone has the chance to belong, participate and move forward.
